mood: satisfied
wow, it's been WAY too long since I last wrote anything. I'm a pretty lazy person, heh.
there was a gigantic storm in my area last night. gigantic, but awesome. it's funny, I used to be afraid of thunderstorms, until yesterday morning. here's the deal:
so, i was sitting in my art class (more on that later) and it was starting to thunder and lightening out. I mention to my friend sitting next to me--we'll call him J--that I'm afraid of thunderstorms. so we get onto the subject of lightening and all that, and I casually mention (I brag about this a lot, heh) that my family can be traced back to a line of Norse royalty that was supposedly descended from Thor.
"wait, wait," J says. "you're descended from THOR, the Norse god of thunder and lightening, and you're afraid of THUNDERSTORMS?"
"My god, man, you're right!" I exclaim (heh). So yesterday was the first thunderstorm I've ever truly enjoyed, and man, it was a doozie, heh.
a few different things are currently going on right now, but only three are really important:
I'm currently taking a two-week all-day art class. We refrain from calling it a 'camp', heh, because it's for grades 9-12 and we feel we're too old for camps. My main reason for taking it (other than the fact that I like art) is that since I'm mostly into photography, my sense of drawing, sighting, painting, etc. etc. is sadly underdeveloped.
usually the first half is devoted the '2D art' and the second half is devoted to '3D art.' I've discovered that i'm quite fond of sculpture, especially carving--soap carving, at least, since we haven't gotten to any more 'advanced' materials, heh. Another project I've had lots of fun with is the wire sculpture of a twenty-minute sketch of the teachers' assistant. it turns out that it isn't so much that i don't have a good grip on the human form so much as that I can't draw very well
Other things going on: I'm going to Omaha, Nebraska in about a week. <sob> ((no offense if you live in Omaha! >.>;;
I complain about having to go, but in most ways I'm looking forward to it. I'm very close to my mother's side of the family, but i've met very little of my father's (of his eight siblings, i've only met two, and i've only met his mother twice in my life). So I'm going to get to meet a lot of people I haven't before, and I love my Gramma, heh.
In fact, pretty much the only reason I'm not looking forward to it is that my grandmother looks identical to me. That probably sounds really weird, heh, but it's freaking creepy, man. We have pictures of her and me at the age of ten, right? we show them to people and they say 'is it just me, or does claire look a bit strange in that picture..?' And to make things just a bit creepier, she's actually one of a pair of identical twins, and her sister's coming to the party, heh. you know that picture of her i told you about? well, it's actually three pictures, one of my grandma, one of her twin sister, and one of me. So there're going to be two people walking around the party room who look identical to me O.o I'm scared.
But most important thing I have to say?
When I get back from Omaha, I'm going to SPACE CAMP! wooooo!
Heh, i've been looking forward to this for literally seven months. I'm so excited it's not even funny (except that it is). More on Space Camp later though, heh, when I can devote a whole journal entry to it.

why don't you talk to me anymore?
